Managing Your PD

Research has shown that those who take an active role in their own care, see an improvement in their symptoms.  That means finding the right doctor, always be prepared for your visit, and talk to your doctor about all the right issues.

Armed with all your information, the doctor will determine if certain therapies may be good for you.  I have found having a team of medical professionals on your side is priceless.  Depending on ones needs, that team may include a Neurologist, a physical therapist, speech therapist, nutritionist, and social worker.  Consultants in psychiatry and neurosurgery may be needed.  The team must be in constant communication so they all know your full story then determine the best approach for you.

You must feel comfortable with the professionals working for you.  AND...the team working on your behalf,  must know that you are doing all you can do to push back the ever-advancing disease.
